Richard White

26 December 1949 - 7 May 2020

Richard White

Sadly, as many of you know, Richard passed away suddenly in May this year. It was a great shock for his family, many friends and colleagues. We have all been affected on many levels. Thankfully Richard lives on in the hundreds of stunning images he took over many years. His ongoing passion and love of photography never waned – in fact it intensified as the years progressed.

Richard delighted in sharing his vast knowledge of photographic history, the skill of black and white and large format photography, and darkroom printing techniques. Whether on the speakers podium, instructing his many workshops, or writing articles for magazines and newsletters, Richard’s natural teaching style and commitment to his craft was obvious - as was his honesty and dry wit.

In portraits he captured the soul of his subjects and in landscapes he captured the spiritual and mysterious beauty of the physical world. Richard was a poet without words, an environmentalist without a cause - and an artist with a camera.

In honour and memory of their much loved father, sons Daniel, Sean and Lewis are continuing Richard’s website and sales of some books, cards and posters.

We hope you continue to enjoy and find solace in his work.

Jan White
