High Country Book UpdateThursday 13th March, 2014
As you no doubt know I have been endeavouring to publish a book on the High Country for a couple of years now. When I have mentioned it to others, especially those in the know and several book shop owners, all have stated that the market is crying out for such a publication and “why haven’t you done it?”
As excited and gung-ho about this project as I am the usual things get in the way: finances, time restraints, publishers not willing to make a commitment, and the list goes on. Well the layout is complete. I have selected 79 black and white images from different areas of the High Country. The hard cover book will measure 300mm square.
We are close to finalizing the project and now I would like to offer you a chance in a small way to be involved with this book as minor sponsors.
You may know that printing and publishing a book is a costly affair. I have sourced big business, small business whom I actually thought could benefit from what I had to offer. Some have come forward and others have pushed me aside.
So here is your chance to have your name etched in history.
I would like to offer three levels of sponsorship. Your involvement would be this and please note that overseas supporters will incur a shipping charge of $45. You can thank Australia Post for this.
For $350 I would include your name in all copies of the book as supporters of the project plus one copy of the standard hard cover book personalized and signed by myself plus a token photographic gift.
For a sponsorship of $750 all of the above would apply plus a choice of one of three pigment inkjet prints mounted and over matted ready for framing. Images taken with the Fuji X-Pro1 or X-E1. All images approx 10” across.
And finally for the premium sponsorship of $1250, a copy of the Limited Edition slip case version of the High Country Book which will come complete with a print choice of your choosing from 5, (Images to follow). of a limited edition black & white silver gelatin print. That is a darkroom print printed by myself. Also a standard copy of the hard cover book and your name in every copy of the book as a premium supporter.
If any of you would like to participate in this way as supporters of this project please let me know by the deadline of March 26, 2014 so any adjustments can be made.
And one last thing. I also offered companies the first page of the book to display their company logo and their message for an enticing offer. If you feel that the company you own or work for could benefit in this way please contact me for more details.

Richard given top award at AIPP presentationsTuesday 8th June, 2010
At the 2010 Australian Professional Photography Awards dinner held at Crown Casino in Melbourne, Richard was awarded the highest honour available from the Institute, A Fellow of the Australian Institute of Professional Photography. The award recognizes the outstanding value of an individual's achievement as well as a history of service to the Institute, the photographic industry and society.
During the announcement Richard's High Country calendar was mentioned, which also won a printing award earlier this year as well as Richard's contribution to large format black and white photography, his published articles, teaching through his workshops program and annual judging at the AIPP awards.
A standing ovation of several hundred participants almost rendered Richard speechless but not before thanking his sponsor Kodak for their ongoing support and his family who have endured his 'lifelong obsession'.
